Following convention, the four evangelists appear in the ceiling's cross-ribbed vaulting against a starry sky. Drawings survive for the St Mark and St Matthew (Musée Condé, Chantilly, Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge), considered to be works by Benozzo Gozzoli.
