The three-dimensional "broken" façade produce a filigree effect in spite of the monumental proportions, but are far more static than the contemporary structures in Germany.The plasticity of the wall is combined here with the continuing use of the "carpet" surface treatment, a style of ornament which had been prevalent in Spain for centuries.
