BRUAND (BRUANT), French family of architects

Sébastien Bruand (d. 1670), an architect active in Paris, became Maître Général des Bâtiments et des Ponts et Chaussées and Maître Général des Oeuvres de Charpenterie du Roi. Of his sons, Jacques Bruand (c. 1620-1664) was architect to Gaston, Duc d'Orléans and Architecte du Roi, while Libéral Bruand (c. 1635-1697) inherited Sébastien's positions. One of Libéral's sons, François Bruand (1679-1732), became a member of the Académie Royale d'Architecture in 1706.
