This painting is the left half of a diptych with a Christ Carrying the Cross. This likeness exhibits an enamel-like finish and pale pinkish flash tone. The exaggerated creases at the base of Ulner's middle finger seem to have been an idiosyncrasy of Barthel Bruyn the Younger's approach to hands and appear in other works attributed to him.
