This sculpture is a 20th-century copy of the original wooden statue, now in the Museum Hof van Busleyden, Mechelen. This original, in turn, is a copy of a statue by the medieval sculptor André Beauneveu. This explain why this seventeenth-century statue has a Gothic feeling to it.
