Duomo, Florence

The old façade of the Duomo in Florence, Italy was the work of a number of artists and was never completed. In 1864 a competition was held for a new façade and in 1871, Emilio de Fabris was the successful winner. The marble used for the façade came from local Tuscany towns and was completed in 1887.

On the façade of the Florence Duomo, you can see all the intricate work put into the design and the wonderment of the architecture which makes the Duomo a very popular tourist attraction. Not many tourists who visit the city of Florence in Italy, can say that they bypassed the Duomo, and if they did, their trip would not have been complete.
