DORIGNY, Louis
(b. 1654, Paris, d. 1742, Verona)

Minerva, with Two Nymphs, Diana, and Aeolus (detail)

c. 1719
Fresco
Villa Allegri Arvedi, Cuzzano di Grezzana

This detail of the third scene on the ceiling of the main hall shows Aeolus, who is enveloped in a frightening, vertiginous whirl that seems to have come straight out of the Sistine Chapel.
