The Large Passion: 1. Title page

1510
Woodcut, 39 x 28 cm
Graphische Sammlung Albertina, Vienna

The title: Passio domini nostri Jesu per Fratrem Chelidonium collecta cum figuris Alberti Dureri - Nostri Pictoris. Nuremberg 1511. The tiresome verses of this "lover of the muse", as the liberal minded monk Schwalbe (Chelidonius) calls himself in the title, are printed in two columns on the back of the woodcuts.

The title page is illustrated by the scene Mocking of Christ.
