This scene at bottom left on the east wall, shows presents an imposing architectural backdrop. Three tall platforms provide a foundation for the temple, which is depicted as a three-aisle basilica, flanked by loggias. The stairway on which Mary turns backward is given an equivalent amount of space. Her path is followed attentively not only by her parents and the high priest waitng at the temple entrance, but also by a number of citizens.

This painting was admired in Taddeo's time and it was imitated in contemporary painting.
