The picture shows the title page for a book of Heemskerck's engravings (Clades or Inventiones Heemskerckianae ex utroque testamento, 1569) by Philip Galle. On the socle of a column or obelisk, a portrait of the bearded Heemskerck (taken from the Self-Portrait in Rome with the Colosseum).
