Wedding Casket with the Triumph of Venus

The outside of the box is graced with a hunting scene in which stags and boars are being chased by dogs. On the lid an inscription bearing the date 1421 encircles the representation of Venus, dressed in her finest raiment and flanked by two cupids. beneath her two musicians surround a maiden who may be the bride for whom the casket was made.
