Catalogue numbers: F 392, JH 1361. In February 1888 van Gogh left for Arles in southern France where he wanted to paint orchards in blossom. As a matter of fact, the south welcomed him with snow. Unperturbed, he broke a budding twig off a tree and put it in a glass of water, waiting for blossoms. | |
