It portrays Maria Luisa of Parma, Queen of Spain (1751-1819), full length standing, wearing a pink dress and a lace bonnet. The composition of the painting appears to be strongly indebted to a portrait by Maella of the Infanta Dona Carlota Joaquina (1775-1830), daughter of King Charles IV and Queen María Luisa of Parma, and elder sister to King Ferdinand VII (Museo del Prado, Madrid).
