The Malvagna Altarpiece (centre panel, detail)

The collaboration between Gossart and David also extended to the figures on the interior of the altarpiece. A study of the details of handling and execution reveals that the female heads are painted differently from all the other figures, including the Adam and Eve on the exterior wings. These heads were executed by Gerard David.
