This double portrait represents Elizabeth Hamilton, later Countess of Warwick (1720-1800), and her brother William Hamilton (1730-1803), the eldest daughter and youngest son of Lord Archibald Hamilton.
The future Sir William Hamilton is depicted here as a boy. He was a famous diplomat, antiquarian and British Ambassador to the Kingdom of Naples.
