Look ahead. The Harbour at Bergen

This picture was inspired by a painting of similar subject by Caillebotte. In Krohg's version the rower is turning briefly to check his course and avoid a collision with other boats, not least the steamer in the background. The sunlight enables the artist to paint the reflections in the water.
