The painter Lorenzo Lippi was also a satirical poet and friend of the Neapolitan Salvator Rosa with whom he founded a theatrical academy in the years when Rosa was in Florence. In painting, Lorenzo Lippi was a champion of linearism that was still Manneristic in lively chromatic harmony.
