St Louis of Toulouse

San Francesco, Arezzo

Lorentino d'Arezzo (Lorentino d'Angelo or Lorentino d'Andrea), was a pupil of Piero della Francesca to whose style he remained true. He was active in Arezzo, where he did many paintings in imitation of Piero's style. He finished those works which Piero left incomplete when death surprised him.

The figure of St Louis of Toulouse was painted on the east pillar of the entry arch of the Cappella Maggiore in San Francesco, Arezzo.
