Stories of cranes were frequently deployed in Russian folklore. Here, the crane, known for its spectacular mating dances, is beautifully depicted, mimicking the hand movements of the man, appearing to dance together in the evening light.

The painting is signed in Cyrillic lower left and dated '97'.
