c. 1410
Manuscript (Codex Vindobonensis 2537), 477 x 355 mm (folio size)

The miniature on folio 48r depicts a sword fight. Tristan (left) recognisable by his green suit with golden crowns, has put up his guard and is engaged the sword fight. His opponent has already drawn back his sword-arm to deliver a mighty blow, but Tristan has forestalled him and strikes the first blow, to his head.
