Venus at Her Toilet

c. 1550
Oil on canvas, 97 x 126 cm
Musée du Louvre, Paris

The toilet of Venus is a timeless theme of sensuous seduction. In this example, Venus is pictured after emerging from her bath; she is attended by Cupid and a nymph, who attend to her needs as she admires herself in a mirror.
