MASTER of Heiligenkreuz
(active in the early 1400s in Austria)

c. 1410
Wood, 72 x 43,5 cm
Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna

The panel was probably part of a diptych from the monastery of Heiligenkreuz, the other panel representing the mystical marriege of St Catherine. The settlers in Heiligenkreuz came from France and it is assumed that the artist of this diptych is also of French origin.
