Young Woman in an Interior

1640s
Oil on wood, 43 x 35 cm

This small picture was attributed to Rembrandt for long time, but it is the work of a minor master of the Leiden school whose identity was not discovered. Genre-like portraits, such as the present canvas, were common in Leiden during the second quarter of the seventeenth century.
