One of the leading Utrecht sculptors, known as the master of St Martin after a group in the Centraal Museum, Utrecht, produced a number of graceful statuettes for the cathedral. On a miniature scale, his lively and alert figures, such as that of Mary Magdalen, exhibit the courtly charm of the earlier Beautiful Madonnas of Bohemia.
