Portrait of a Youth

Oil on panel, 59 x 51 cm
Liechtenstein Museum, Vienna

Nothing is known about the painter whose monogram "AG" can be seen in the upper left corner of the panel. The portrait is reminiscent of work by the artists of the Danube School, for example the portraits of Wolf Huber. The carnation in the man's hand suggests that the portrait was executed in connection with his marriage.
