The second bay of the ceiling

1508-12
Fresco
Cappella Sistina, Vatican

At the sides, two of the eight triangular spandrels, directly above the lunettes, contain family groups of the ancestors of Christ, while the Deluge is depicted in the large central panel. This is the first in chronological order of the narratives to be frescoed by Michelangelo in the Sistine Chapel.
