On the present sheet Michelangelo experimented with various postures for the Ignudi on the Sistine Chapel ceiling. The largest figure can be connected with the Ignudo to the left above the Cumaean Sibyl. The fragment of an entablature was probably a preliminary drawing for an unrealised decorative detail on one of the capitals. | |
