The Flemish Frans de Momper, Josse de Momper's nephew, who became a master in Antwerp in 1630, painted landscapes and river views in the Dutch Jan van Goyen's atmospheric style. The present painting depicts a winter landscape with men fowling and market sellers on a carriage.
