In the 1660s Jan de Momper painted a series of decorative pieces for the villas of the Roman noble family, Chigi, in Frascati. This painting originates from one of the Chigi villas.
It is interesting to note that before cleaning from layers of dirt, the painting was attributed to an unknown painter from Goya's circle.
