Mountainous Landscape

1585-90
Oil on oak panel, 54 x 81 cm
Private collection

The painting represents a mountainous landscape with country folk dancing and merrymaking outside taverns by a small lake, a maypole in the distance. It shows the stylistic influence of both Gillis van Coninxloo and David Vinckboons. The figures were probably executed by Vinckboons.
