Landscape by a Riverside Town

-
Oil on oak panel, 47 x 78 cm
Private collection

It is thought that the riverside town is Treviso in Italy.

This picture belongs to a cohesive group of paintings, mainly depicting Treviso and Rome, which had traditionally been attributed to Joos de Momper and known as the Treviso group. Now this group is attributed to Philips, who was very familiar with the style of his father, in whose studio he had learned and worked.
