1879
Oil on canvas, 53 x 71 cm

Monet left Argenteuil in 1878 and settled at Vétheuil, fifty kilometres further from Paris. Vétheuil, with its church seen across the river, provided Monet with a motif he painted exhaustively in countless variations.
