The plate represents a scene drawn from an episode of Genesis (26:8), illustrated in a fresco by Raphael's workshop in the Vatican: Abimelech spying on Isaac and Rebecca. The decoration displays the arms of Isabella d'Este Gonzaga, Marchesa of Mantua (1474-1539).
