OPPENORDT, French family of artists

Alexandre-Jean Oppenordt (1639-1715) was a cabinetmaker of Dutch origin, who worked as an ébéniste (cabinetmaker) to Louis XIV. His son Gilles-Marie Oppenordt (1672-1742) was architect and decorative designer, pupil of Jules Hardouin-Mansart, and one of the most charming decorative artists of the 18th century.
