Party Scene with Music

Oil on oak, 64,5 x 89,5 cm
Wallraf-Richartz-Museum, Cologne

The Delft portraitist Anthonie Palamedesz repeatedly made social scenes of groups. The window which is the source of the light that gives his pictures their blond tonality is frequently (but not always) visible. The dominant hues in his pleasantly coloured pictures are a blue and yellow of low intensity.
