The second scene takes place at the high altar of the church, where we can also see the leg of a kneeling apostle in one corner of Tintoretto' Assumption (now in the church of Gesuiti to which it was transferred after the demolition of the church of Crociferi). The narration of the event shows the boy bearing the good news, Cicogna's restrained surprise, and the more enthusiastic congratulations of the hospitaler, Priamo Balbi.
In the third scene, before the dignitaries of the Church and a group of Venetian nobles, the ubiquitous Priamo Balbi ushers two elderly women from the hospital into the presence of the new doge, who has already assumed the solemn demeanour that befits his station.
