PEETERS, Dutch family of painters

The leading member of the family of marine and landscape painters was Bonaventura Peeters I, whose teacher may have been Andries van Eertvelt. Bonaventura became a master of the Antwerp Guild of St Luke in 1634. He shared a studio in Antwerp with his brother Gillis Peeters I, a landscape painter, but spent the last years of his life in Hoboken, together with his sister Catharina Peeters (1615-after 1676), who collaborated with him, and his brother and pupil Jan Peeters I (1624-c. 1678).
