Nino Pisano carried out his first works in the Cathedral Works of Florence under his father's influence. Among the sculptures for the campanile, which were executed from 1334, the following can be attributed to him: the reliefs of Jubal, Medicina, Phoroneus, Theatrica, Architectura on the lower level of the socle; Mercury and Venus on the upper level; and, from 1337 when Andrea was Master of the Cathedral Works, the four life-size statues of King David, the Erythraean and Tiburtine Sibyls, and a Prophet (Museo dell'Opera del Duomo, Florence).
Although Nino was influenced by his father, he did not follow Andrea's technique of building up the figures from the inside out, resulting in a break in the axis of his figures; Nino's figures are also constricted in their movements and appear to be lightly pressed into a layer like a relief.
