The monument to the doge Marco Corner (died 1368) is in the presbytery of the Basilica. It was dismantled when it was moved to leave space for the neighbouring monument to the doge Andrea Vendramin.
In the centre of the monument is the Virgin, signed by Nino Pisano, between Sts Peter and Paul. St Peter is by Nino Pisano, while St Paul, the doge and the angels are by followers.
Doge Marco Corner (Cornaro) died in January 1368; since Nino was already deceased in December of the same year, there are doubts and conflicting opinions on the autography of the figures and their chronology. Either a commission to Nino completed by the workshop, or an original pertinence to another tomb have been hypothesized.
