Our knowledge of Nino Pisano is incomplete. What we know of him is derived largely from two signed works, a Virgin and Child in Santa Maria Novella in Florence, and a Virgin and Child with two saints surmounting the Corner monument in Santi Giovanni e Paolo in Venice. Both show the influence of French upon Italian Gothic sculpture.
The statue is signed on the base.
