Giovan Ambrogio de Predis, painter and miniaturist, became the official court painter of the Sforza family, the members of whom he portrayed in numerous miniatures. In this portrait the soft chiaroscuro of Leonardo is plainly visible, but De Predis fails to assimilate the depth of Leonardo's vast and fundamental contribution to art.
