Henri III was the third son of Henri II and Catherine de Médicis. Initially duc d'Anjou and then, in 1573, elected king of Poland, he succeeded his brother Charles IX in 1574. He is wearing the blue ribbon of the Order of the Saint-Esprit, which he instituted in 1578.
