(b. 1857, Ribadesella, d. 1913, Barcelona)

El Darro

1910-11
Oil on canvas, 59 x 72 cm
Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, Buenos Aires

The river Darro, with its stone bridges built in the 16th century, runs through the old city of Granada. Regoyos and his family spent the winter of 1910-11 in Granada, and he possibly painted this canvas at that time.

The painting was exhibited at the exhibition that Regoyos organized, with the help of the Argentine writer Manuel Gálvez, at the Witcomb Gallery in Buenos Aires in 1912.
