REGOYOS Y VALDÉS, Dario de
(b. 1857, Ribadesella, d. 1913, Barcelona)

Dolores Otaño

1891
Oil on canvas, 55 x 35 cm
Museo del Prado, Madrid

Of the Spanish artists, Regoyos adopted first Impressionism and later Neo-Impressionism with the most persistent rigour. In 1888 he exhibited together with Seurat, Signac, Pissarro and Cross, and for a short time he in fact practiced a strict pointillism, as in his portrait of Dolores Otaño.
