Jan Rijcksen and His Wife, Griet Jans

1633
Oil on canvas, 111 x 166 cm

Catalogue number: Bredius 408.

This double portrait is exceptionally large and elaborate for Rembrandt. Accordingly, the cost was about five hundred guilders, an amount as much as a skilled worker or a minister in the Reformed church earned in a year.
