Oil on panel, 68 x 53 cm

Catalogue number: Bredius 354.

Haesje Jacobsdr. van Cleyburg (1583-1641) was the wife of Dirck Jansz. Pesser (1587-1651), a Remonstrant brewer in Rotterdam. The pendant of the painting depicts the husband. The head-and-shoulders pendants were painted on wooden panels, presumably ovals, that at some point were transformed to a twelve-sided panel, and then, through the addition of sixteen small blocks of wood, to rectangles.
