Catalogue number: Bredius 194.

Dirck Jansz. Pesser (1587-1651) was a Remonstrant brewer in Rotterdam. The pendant of the painting depicts his wife Haesje Jacobsdr. van Cleyburg (1583-1641). The head-and-shoulders pendants were painted on wooden panels, presumably ovals, that at some point were transformed to a twelve-sided panel, and then, through the addition of sixteen small blocks of wood, to rectangles.
