The House with the Tower, seen from across the Schinkelc. 1650Pen and brush in brown, 98 x 216 mm J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles | |
Catalogue number: Benesch 1267. The House with the Tower, located west of Amsterdam, occurs in one drawing and three etchings by Rembrandt in about 1650. In the delicate drawing, we see the small estate from across an old canal called the Schinkel, near the present Overtoom. The most characteristic feature of the complex is the tower that gave the estate its name. |
