Johann Heinrich Roos was the founding father of a family of German painters who painted animals, landscapes and portraits from the 17th to the 19th century. His pastoral idylls introduced a Baroque style of landscape and animal painting into Germany.
The present signed and dated canvas represents a good example of the painter's work.
