To see how Bernardo Rossellini's style evolved from that of Donatello, it is interesting to compare this tondo from the Bruni tomb with Donatello's relief of the same subject, with the Pazzi Madonna. Bernardo's relief is much less intense, softer, more lyrical, and intimate rather than heroic.
